According to the Defense Post, the US Army is developing its new Command Post Integrated Infrastructure (CPI2) to enhance operability across the battlefield. CPI2 is a mobile command platform that is able to rapidly “tear down, move, and stand” command and control (C2) capabilities, helping the army achieve its top communications priorities while reducing command post footprint in warfare scenarios.
Lockheed Martin flight tested the extended-range Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System (ER GMLRS) to its maximum range of 150 kilometers. The missile flew twice the range of the operational GMLRS, achieving success criteria for flight trajectory, extended range, and accuracy from launch to impact. It also demonstrated successful integration with the M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System.
Middle East and Africa
Qatari and US military units joined forces in a historic airborne insertion exercise on August 17, 2023, in Doha, Qatar. This groundbreaking operation saw the 102nd Rescue Squadron of the US Air Force utilizing a C-130 aircraft to provide airlift support for 19 paratroopers hailing from the 165th Quartermaster BADC-A Det 1. The mission marked the inaugural static-line airborne operation for the 1st Theater Sustainment Command (1st TSC) within the US Central Command’s area of responsibility.

The Hellenic Navy has taken delivery of its second pair of ex-US Coast Guard (USCG) Island-class cutters and a fourth multimission support ship. The three ships arrived at Salamis Naval Base on September 1, the Hellenic Navy announced the same day. The Hellenic Navy acquired the four ex-Island-class cutters via the US Defense Security Cooperation Agency’s Office of International Acquisition’s Excess Defense Articles (EDA) programme as replacements for its ageing Andromeda (Nasty)-class and Antoniou-class patrol boats, which were built in the 1960s/70s.
Germany has delivered the first shipment of new ammunition for the Gerard anti-aircraft weapon system to Ukraine, manufacturer Rheinmetall and the German Defence Ministry announced Tuesday. This first lot of new 35mm ammunition comes months after Rheinmetall invested in new production capacity in the German state of Lower Saxony.

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un expects to meet with President Vladimir Putin in Russia to discuss providing arms to Moscow for its war in Ukraine, the US said Monday. The announcement comes after the White House last week warned that Russia was already in secret, active talks with the North to acquire a range of munitions and supplies for Moscow’s war effort.
