BAE Wins $17.9M for ARGUS Wide-Aera Video

BAE Systems Advanced Technologies of Washington DC received a $17.9 million contract under the ARGUS program. Their objective is to develop a system that provides a real-time, high-resolution, wide area video persistent surveillance capability, then transition this capability to the military. Sounds like a perfect future fit for the American RAID surveilance system. At this time, $5,054,772 has been authorized. Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, OH issued the contract (FA8650-07-C-7732). BAE has had a nice run on these optronics contracts lately, from ARGUS; to the $49 million Joint Multi-Mission Electro-Optical System (JMMES) U.S. Navy contract to develop a system that can rapidly identify and track camouflaged or concealed objects and targets; to a US army contract to develop a 3rd-generation helmet-mounted night vision goggle that fuses low-light and infrared technology, creating a single picture that removes the different disadvantages inherent to each.
