Chinook at Night South Korea intends to spend more than 2 billion dollars over the next 5 years on missiles according to Yonhap. The Chosunilbo reports that this sum will translate into 500+ Hyunmu-2 and Hyunmu-3 missiles. They’re also adding to their minesweeping capabilities. The European Defense Agency (EDA)’s first European Defence Matters [PDF] magazine talks about pooling and sharing within the European Union. Recent Franco-British and Benelux efforts show that a few willing countries get more traction than elusive EU-wide projects. After successful trials on the first-of-class HMS Daring air defense destroyer, the UAT MOD 2.1 & 2.3 programs will retrofit Thales’ all-digital RESM technology across the Royal Navy’s entire surface warship fleet.
