In Dec. 2004, DID described rumours that a quid pro quo between the West and South Australian governments would result in South Australia shipyards winning the construction contract for the USD $ 4.5 billion SEA 4000 Air Warfare Destroyer program, described in depth in this April 2005 DID article. We also reported widespread industry belief back in December 2004 that government-owned ASC Pty Ltd. would receive the shipbuilding contract. Both of those reports have now come true....
