US SPAWAR Orders up to $52.6M in Portable SATCOM Terminals

FA150T, Baghdad(click to view full) The US Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center (SPAWAR) in Charleston, SC has issued an indefinite-delivery/ indefinite-quantity multiple-award contract for portable satellite communications (SATCOM) terminals. Man-portable SATCOM terminals are used regularly by Special Forces, and larger vehicle-portable systems are also seeing increased use as part of military command elements – vid the SWE-DISH FA150T fly-away system pictured here. These contracts include a one-year base period and 4 one-year option periods, making the total potential period of performance 5 years. When combined, the aggregate value of all delivery orders awarded over the life of these eight contracts will be approximately $52.6 million. Work is expected to be completed July 2007, and if all options are exercised, ordering could continue until July 2011. The multiple award contracts were competitively procured by a small business set aside procurement via the SPAWAR business opportunity page, e-commerce central web site, and federal business opportunities site, with 9 offers received.
