The US State Department has given the green light to a potential foreign military sale of 48 Raytheon medium-range precision strike standoff systems to Oman’s Royal Air Force. This agreement, valued at approximately $385 million, also includes the delivery of air training missiles, free flight vehicles, environmental determination test vehicles, and containers. The Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) asserts that this proposed sale will bolster the foreign policy and national security of the United States by enhancing the security of Oman, a key ally in the Middle East. The sale is intended to bolster Oman’s defense capabilities amidst regional security threats.

Saab has officially presented the first Airborne Early Warning (AEW) aircraft under order by the government of Poland. In a ceremony attended by Polish and Swedish defense representatives, the company showcased its Saab 340 AEW equipped with the Erieye radar system. The milestone happened just two months after Warsaw placed an order for two airborne surveillance aircraft to bolster its national security.

Indian Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari disclosed to the press that the MiG-21 will make its final appearance at the service’s annivesary parade that falls on October 8 for the final time. The entire fleet of MiG-21 fighter jets, which have been in active service for over five decades, has been grounded following an incident in Rajasthan in May.
Japan announced a $6.7 million cyber defense project to integrate locally-developed security software into government computers by 2025. The platform will be compatible with Microsoft security software installed in most of the covered devices, according to Nikkei Asia. The step is expected to “boost collection and analysis” of cyber attacks and improve countermeasures against potential threats.
