The Whiting-Turner Contracting Co. in Raleigh, NC received $57.7 million for firm-fixed price Task Order 0003 under an indefinite-delivery/ indefinite-quantity multiple award construction contract (N62470-01-D-1141) for design and construction of Bachelor Enlisted Quarters (BEQs) at two separate and distinct site locations at Marine Corps Base, Camp Lejeune. Program requirements for the two 325 sleeping room three-story BEQs are identical and include all incidental related work. Work will be performed in Jacksonville, NC, and the BEQs are expected to be complete by April 2007 and October 2007, respectively. The Family Housing Office maintains 4,640 units aboard Camp Lejeune and neighboring New River, including 187 mobile home spaces. Many homes have been renovated, and renovations on other quarters are either in progress or programmed. All quarters offer central air conditioning and heating. The basic contract under which this work is performed was competitively negotiated with 116 offers solicited, 10 proposals received and awards made to multiple contractors on April 26, 2002.
